We are offering a magnificent Chinese Imperial monochrome porcelain of a celadon brush pot from Qianlong period. This heavily potted brush holder has a cylindrical shape and is covered overall with a beautiful soft sea-green celadon glaze. The exterior is decorated with stylized vining lotus framed between a different band of auspicious Ruyi pattern each on the top and bottom. The glaze pools and thins in areas to highlight the carved decoration by providing a contrast of color tones. The shallow recessed base within an unglazed band and a raised foot ring is glazed with a white glaze of pale celadon tint. At the center of the base is a carved Imperial Qianlong six-character seal mark in intaglio. This brush pot is an excellent example of the effect created by using the intaglio carved decoration on a transparent monochrome glaze to present the decoration in various shades of green from the same glaze. Other than a few stained burst glaze bubbles at the base as photographed, this beautiful large brush holder is in excellent condition.
