We are offering another elegant Choson period inlaid celadon jar of the punch'ong type from our large collection of Korean ceramics acquired after the war in 1950's in Japan. This type of wares with painstakingly stamped floret inlaid is called by Japanese as Mishima type and was used for tea ceremony vessels. This small jar has a rounded body on a tall splayed foot and a straight mouth rim. The shoulder is attached with four small flat perforated ears for suspension. The body is decorated with four bands of stamped florets of two different types divided by a double-ring in between. The bottom is finely inlaid with a band of pointed leaves. The base inside the foot ring is covered with a thin glaze now degraded from burial. The vessel is covered with a transparent glaze over gray stoneware body and white slip inlaid. Except for a small patches of degraded glaze and a few minute chips at the rim, this elegant jar is in good condition. We are offering it without a reserve and with a low starting bid.
