Fine Flambe-Glaze Vase, Yongzheng Mark & Period

This is a beautiful Qing Imperial monochrome vase with a rare Flambe glaze of brilliant color and variegation. The vase is shaped as a Han Dynasty bronze form of "Hu" with raised horizontal ribs and two animal mask ring handle appliques. The surface is all under a characteristically thick and bright ox-blood purple glaze with variegated turquoise streaks thinning to a pinkish white color at he mouth rim. The base is covered with a cafe-au-lait brown glaze. The foot ring is unglazed with a typical grinded edge to remove excess glaze. The base is incised with a four-character Yongzheng Imperial seal mark in archaic seal scripts under the brown glaze. This fine Flambe-glazed vase is in excellent condition. Similar vase were sold by Christie's, Hong Kong on May 30, 2006 for over $171,000. We are offering it at a significantly lower reserve. Please bid with confidence.
