This is another fine and important Chinese painting from our large collection of East Asian art acquired before 1975 in Japan. We will be listing at least two paintings every week for Chinese painting collectors on Ebay. All our paintings are original and beautiful works. We do not sell counterfeit prints or low quality copies commonly seen on the market. Every painting we offer here is beloved art work collected and treasured by our family for at least 30 years. Please bid with confidence.

Up for auction is a massive and monumental scroll of ink and color on silk depicting one hundred tigers in various positions. The large painting started with an ink calligraphy title colophon by a connoisseur with a signature and a seal. As the scroll unrolls to the left, monumental pictures of mountains and beautiful tigers catch the viewer's eyes. The tigers are depicted playing among themselves in many different positions tasteful laid out in a spacious landscape painted in brilliant colors. At the end of the painting is inscribed with a four-character signature and seal of the artist. The painting is more than 16 meters long and 40.8 cm height. It must have been a very important work by an accomplished artist. The long painting is mounted as a hand scroll with a red paper front piece elaborately painted with gilt dragons now mostly rubbed-off. The front rod to hold the tying string is missing. Other than some damages to the mounting material, the painting is in excellent condition with only minor stains and creases. In order to illustrate the massive size of this fine painting scroll, we photographed it alongside with a lady's watch(not included in this sale) for your reference.

Please review all photos carefully and appreciate the beauty of this important Chinese painting and its corresponding colophon. This massive hand scroll was acquired in Japan in early 1970's. We guarantee that it is an original ink and color on silk painting and calligraphy, not a print or woodblock. Due to the condition of this painting and the inherent scholarship controversy of any old Chinese painting, we can not accept return once the transaction is completed. The sale is final. Please do not buy it for the purpose of studying it to see if it is something you assumed it is. Other than the originality and as-presented guarantee, we do not attempt to make any attribution on its authorship.
