Gilt-Painted Coral-red Vase, Jiaqing Mark & Period

This is a fine Qing Dynasty Jiaqing Period (1796-1820) Imperial vase with the rare gilt decoration over a coral-red ground. The thinly potted vase has a globular body sitting on a short foot and rises to a small tubular neck ending with a small mouth rim. The entire exterior is covered with a fine even coral red enamel. Elaborate gilt painting of playful Buddhist lions decorate the globular body. The neck and the foot is further decorated with auspicious border motif of ruyi and key-frets. The base inside the foot ring is glazed white and is inscribed with a six-character Jianqing Imperial Seal mark in iron-red. Except for minor gilt enamel wear, this lovely vase is in excellent condition with superb gilt painting on a beautiful coral-red ground.
