This is an extremely delicate Yongzheng marked and of the Period blue-and-white bowl decorated in Doucai style. The rounded bowl has a slightly flared rim and a short foot. The exterior is decorated with a central band of alternating lotus and peony flowers with connecting vines in fine-line drawing. The upper rim is surrounded with a band of stylised waves in concentric circles. A band of ruyi motif decorate the lower body. The center well of the interior is painted with a single peony flower within a double-ring. The painting style is similar to that of Doucai wares with all flowers, leaves and border motif painted in fine blue outlines. The bowl was intended to be a stand-alone blue-and-white bowl yet retained the flexibility of converting it into a Doucai bowl by further enameling. The base is inscribed with a six-character Yongzheng Imperial mark within a double-ring. The unglazed foot rim exposes the silky smooth porcelain body. The extremely thin bowl is covered with fine slightly tinted white glaze. This fine bowl is in excellent condition with only minor glaze wear at the interior well. This bowl is part of a pair with its matching bowl sold by us in March.
