Fine Bronze Standing Buddha, Java, 14th Century or earlier

Up for auction is a beautiful bronze standing Buddha from Java area. The Buddha is standing upright on an attached lotus stand with his right hand in a teaching position and his left hand holding a sacred sphere. The facial expression is serene and delicately sensual, which is typical of early Java Buddhist sculptures. The torso and robe are delineated with simple line and plain surface. The bronze surface has turned dark brown with smooth patina and encrusted with some iron rust from burial in an iron-rich environment. Other than the slightly bended right hand from accidental impact, this beautiful Buddha is in excellent condition.
