Fine Hardwood Brush Washer, Qing Dynasty



Up for auction is an elegant brush washer for the scholar's desk from Qing Dynasty. The water container was carved and polished from a single block of hard wood, probably chicken wing wood. The shape is of a flattened round donut shape with a downward sloped mouth rim and a shallow foot ring. The minimalistic decoration of a simple double-groove circles on the top of the vessel. The remaining surface is plain and displays the beautiful wood grain and fine patina. This is large and fine hardwood brush washer is in excellent condition.
