Rare Korean Folk Art Wood Stand, Choson

We are offering this beautiful Korean Choson period wood stand in the shape of a frog. The heavy stand was carved from a single block of wood with four splayed foot and a concave body with pointed head. Its eyes and mouth are delineated with simple grooves. The minimalistic presentation of the animal is outstanding and is comparable to works of modern masters such as Constantin Brancusi. The wood surface has developed a fine smooth patina.
