Fine Desk Ornament of a Scholar's Rock, Qing Dynasty

This is a truly elegant ornament for the scholar's desk. The naturally formed rock stands on a constricted base and grows to a towering and voluminous top. The natural perforation further enhances the sculptural quality and tasteful elegance of this desk-top size rock formation. This fine scholar's rock is of waxy yellowish brown stone with fine age patina. The surface has accumulated dust from years of display, which can be easily cleaned. It is fitted with a custom-made hardwood display stand. Based on the age of the wood stand and the quality of the patina, we date this beautiful scholar's rock to be from 19th Century or earlier. Except for a few very small chips at extremities, the scholar's rock is in excellent condition.
Size: Height (with the stand): 28.5cm, (without the stand):25.5cm; Width:19cm; Depth: 17cm
