Imperial Famille Rose Bowl, Tongzhi Mark & Period



Up for auction is a very fine and authentic late Qing Dynasty Imperial famille Rose bowl from the Tongzhi Period (1862-1874). The bowl is thinly potted with a flared wide mouth rim. On both sides of the exterior is decorated with a bat holding gourd vine. Below the rim, there is a band of continuous flower scroll in pink and yellow enamel further framed by three thin lines in blue enamel. The raised foot is lined with four thin blue enamel lines where continuous lotus petals are painted in pink enamel outlined in blue. The base is inscribed in iron-red with a four character Tongzhi mark. The white glaze and the porcelain body is of fine white quality typical of Imperial ware.
