White Jade Pendant with Archaic Motif, Qing Dynasty



We are starting to catalogue our collection of fine jade carving and will offer at least one item from that group each week. This week's offer is an extremely beautiful and well-carved jade pendant from the early Qing Dynasty. The pendant is elaborately carved on the front side with archaic motif of Taotie mask underneath two confronting young dragons in deep relief. The flat surface of the back side is incised with a fine line drawing of a Taotie mask. A silk cord is attache through the vertical perforation. The jade is of well-polished semi-transparent white with small area of brown patch. The fine design, elaborate carving and fine polish are the reason for dating this wonderful jade pendant to 18th century Qianlong period. This pendant is in excellent condition with superb patina. from years of handling. Size: length: 3.4cm; width: 4.8cm; Thickness: 1.1cm
