Ming Blue-and-White Stem Cup, Jiajing Mark & Period

We are offering a fine Ming Dynasty Imperial porcelain from the Jiajing Period (1522-1566). The delicate stem bowl sits on an elegantly-shaped foot with stylized rib flared downward to an inverted foot ring. The exterior of the short bowl is decorated with four auspicious Buddhist emblems in deep cobalt blue. The interior is painted with a center roundel of a beautiful Buddhist ribbon knot encircled with two sets of double ring blue lines. The deep base inside the foot ring is inscribed with a six-character Imperial Jiajing mark within a double ring in light underglaze cobalt blue pigment. Except for a small glaze chip and two barely-visible minute glaze flaking at the mouth rim, the stem bowl is in excellent condition with pristine glaze and vivid blue pigment.

Size: Height: 7.1cm; Mouth rim diameter: 7.9cm; Foot rim diameter: 3.4cm
