Rare Copper-red and Incised Dragons Bowl, Yongzheng Mark & Period

This is a very large Imperial porcelain bowl with the rare Ming style decorating technique of monochrome copper-red exterior and fine underglaze incised decoration. The thinly potted bowl has a large flared mouth and a tall foot. The exterior is covered with an even copper-red glaze of pinkish ox liver color. The interior is covered with a fine slightly tinted white glaze. The side wall of the interior is finely incised under the glaze with two striding five-claw dragons chasing flaming pearls. The incised decoration is difficult to photograph, we had to attach a small piece of tape to help with focusing. Unfortunately, this rare and beautiful bowl has suffered from a damage with two re-attached broken-off pieces and an associated small chip. This is a magnificent piece irregardless of its condition. We are offering it with a low starting bid and a low buy-it-now price, please bid before someone else does. Size: mouth rim diameter: 20.7cm; height: 9.1cm
