Rare White Glazed Ewer, Tang Dynasty



We are offering this classic oriental ceramics from early Chinese white glaze production center of Xing kiln during the Tang Dynasty. The ewer has a bulbous round body with a short neck. A short tapered spout and a ear-shaped handle are attached to the upper shoulder. The high-fire glaze is well-vitrified with ivory color. Faint sign of glaze drip is visible on the exterior wall. The base is flat and left unglazed exposing the dense porcelain body. The interior is mostly unglazed except for the cylindrical neck area. The overall visual effect of this early white vessel is elegantly presented in a humble manner while the flawless glaze and perfect shapes exude a sumptuousness not available from any decorated piece. The magnificent white ewer is in excellent condition.
