White faceted jar, Choson Period

This is a rare Korean white ware in the shape of a 10-faceted jar from the 18th Century Choson Period. This jar came from an old Japanese collection where it was used as a water container ( Mitsusashi ) for tea ceremony. A Japanese lacquer cover with a bamboo loop handle is included as part of a complete water container. The wonderful jar is preserved in a Japanese wooden box. There is a kiln fault chip at the mouth rim where it has accumulated glaze during firing to create a fine celadon color glaze pool. A small glaze fault at the outside wall also adds to the rustic beauty of this tea master's utensil.
Size: Height: 14cm; Body width: 17.8cm
