Yellow Ground Blue-and-White Dragon Vase, Tongzhi Mark & Period

This is another fine late Qing Dynasty Imperial porcelain from our collection which was acquired in early 1970's in Japan. The beautiful vase has a long trumpet-shaped neck on top of a bulbous body sitting on a small and slightly splayed foot ring. The exterior is decorated with two large and one small dragons playfully chasing a flaming pearl among clouds and waves in deep cobalt blue. The reserve background is entirely covered with a fine and even yellow enamel. The tall foot ring is decorated with a band of blue key fret covered with a cafe au lait glaze. The interior and the base is glazed white. The base is inscribed with a six-character Imperial Tongzhi (1862-1875) mark in cobalt blue. Except for very minor glaze wear at the lower rim, the wonderful vase is in excellent condition.
Size: 20.5cm, Body Width: 12.6cm; Mouth rim diameter: 5.3cm; foot ring diameter: 6.2cm
