Rare Korean Water Dropper, 15th Century

We are offering this very rare and beautiful early Choson scholar's item of a water dropper from 15th Century. The uniquely-shaped water dropper was modelled into a single peach fruit with its leaves to form the spout and a twig as its handle. The spout was ingeniously designed with a V-shaped opening at the end of a small well to pour water by the drop. The vessel is covered with white slips and enhanced with dark brown iron pigment before it was covered with a layer of finely crackled clear glaze. This lovely early Choson scholar's water dropper is in good condition except for a horizontal kiln crack and glaze degradation from long burial as photographed. Fine and early Korean scholar's art are extremely rare, we are pleased to offer this wonderful example at a reasonable price. Please bid with confidence.
Size: height: 8.5cm; widest part ( handle to spout): 8.0cm
