Blue-and-White Kraak Horses Vase, Ming Dynasty

This is a beautiful blue-and-white vase with its decoration divided in sections, a type of 16th/17th Century Chinese blue-and-white ware called "Kraak wares" by early Dutch traders. The vase has a gallbladder shape with a globular body and a long neck tapered toward a flared mouth rim. The globular body is divided into six vertical panels. Three panels are decorated each with a galloping horse among cloud motif. The other three panels are decorated with stylized flowers growing from rocks. The shoulder and neck are each decorated with various auspicious motifs. The shallow recessed base inside the unglazed and roughly pared foot ring is glazed white. The cobalt pigment is of pale grayish color typical of Kraak wares of 16th/17th Century. Other than some stained glaze crackles, and kiln glaze gaps, this beautiful Ming Dynasty blue-and-white vase is in excellent condition.
