We are starting to offer our collection of early East Asian painting for serious collectors. This beautiful painting depicts a scholar and a horse herder among beautiful water shore tree. The ink and color on silk painting was painted with scholarly elegance and artistic details only seen on paintings executed by early master painters. A two-character signature of a Yuan Dynasty artist was inscribed on the left side of the painting with two artist's seal. Two collector's seals are imprinted on the lower right and left corners of the painting. This fine early Chinese painting was originally mounted in Japanese-style mounting when we purchased it in 1965. Due to the condition of the paining and its mounting, we had it restored and re-mounted in late 1970's into the present Chinese-style scroll. The restoration was performed by a professional restorer. It is now in very good condition with all old restoration and creases smoothed out and is ready for display. Based on the painting style and quality of this beautiful scroll, we date it to be from late Ming Dynasty despite its Yuan Dynasty artist signature. We guarantee that this is an original ink and color on silk painting, not a print nor a recent reproduction. Other than the originality guarantee, this sale is final with no return. We do not offer any attribution of its artist. Please review all detailed photos we have provided to reach your own conclusion.
