We are offering another wonderful example of early Choson Punch'ong ware from the Rai Collection. This well-potted small pear-shaped vase has two flattened sides, each with a large almond-shaped panel reserved on a ground of stamped white slip inlaid. The panel is each inlaid with a large four-petal peony flowers. On top of one of the two panels is an small inlaid emblem in the shape of a sailing boat which is probably the potter's signature which is very rare for early Korean ceramics. The finely crackled glossy and clear glaze covers the beautiful inlaid decoration and the dark gray body. The recessed base and the flat foot rim is thinly glazed with trace of sand spurs. Punch'ong wares such as this vase with combined planar and stamped inlaid, potter's signature, and flattened shape are very rare. This lovely inlaid Punch'ong vase is in excellent condition.
