Rare Parcel Gilt Silver Handled Vessel, Tang Dynasty

We are offering a fine Chinese parcel gilt silver pouring vessel from the Tang Dynasty. The spouted silver has an oval bowl with a trove for pouring and a rectangular handle. The interior of the bowl is chased in low relief with a flower roundel. The top of the handle is finely chased with a flowering vine scroll. The decorated areas were covered with rich gilt. The shape and decorative style of this beautiful gilt silver vessel is a good testimony of Persian cultural influence over Tang Dynasty as a result of active silk road traffic between the two regions. This large silver pouring vessel is in excellent condition except for some minor bend and dent.
