Aubergine Incised Dragons Tea Set, Xianfeng Mark & Period

We are excited to be able to offer another rare items from the short Imperial period of Xianfeng (1851-1861). Among all Qing Dynasty Imperial porcelains, Xianfeng Period Imperial ware had the smallest production and hence only a limited number of Xianfeng mark and period pieces have survived. This is a set of covered tea cup with a matching suacer dish. The exterior of each piece is finely incised with two five-claw dragons chasing flaming pearls all under a thin aubergine glaze. The bases of the bowl and the saucer dish are both inscribed with a six-character Xianfeng Imperial mark in black enamel under the glaze. According to Qing Imperial documents, black imperial marks were produced in large quantity for Imperial funeral ceremonies. This tea set is in excellent condition. It is extremely rare to find an Imperial tea set with all three pieces stay together and are in good condition. size: total height: 9.0cm; bowl diameter: 9.4cm; saucer diameter: 10.7cm; cover diameter: 8.2cm
