Fine Blue-and-White Brush Pot, 20th Century

This is an extremely fine and exquisitely painted blue-and-white brush pot from the early Republic period of early 20th Century. The small cylindrical pot is painted with a scene of two birds interacting among blossoming plum branches. The base is inscribed with a six-character mark which reads "Jiang Xi Ci Ye Gong Shi, Jiang Xi Porcelains Company". The painting and calligraphy on this small brush pot is superb, which is comparable to the finest 18th Century Imperial pieces. This is a true testimonial piece for the revival of Qing Dynasty Imperial kilns during the early Republic period.
