Fine White Glazed Tea Pot, Yongzheng Mark & Period

Up for auction is another beautiful example of Qing Dynasty Imperial porcelain. The elegant melon-shaped teapot has a stylized handle, a thin spout, and a cover with a C-shaped knob. The entire surface is covered with fine early Ming style white glaze commonly called by Chinese ceramics connoisseurs as "Tianbai glaze, or Sweet White Glaze". The glaze has the characteristics of almost pure white and slightly matte with oily sheen. The simple lines and form combined with the subdued beauty of the special white glaze results in a vessel of ultimate elegance. The base is inscribed with a Yongzheng six-character seal mark in archaic scripts. Qing Imperial teapots of this shape with famille rose and Doucai decoration are known. It is rare to fine a monochrome teapot of this elegant shape with Ming style white glaze. Except for a small surface kiln fault at the spout, this beautiful teapot is in excellent condition.

Size: Height: 13.5cm; Body diameter: 11.2cm; Total width ( tip of spout to handle): 19.6cm
