Fine Imperial Ink Cake, Qing Dynasty



We are offering a very fine Chinese black ink cake made during Qing Dynasty. The oval cylinder-shaped ink cake is inscribed with gilt carved intaglio of a date mark and seals on one side and a title mark on the other side. The top end is moulded with a maker's mark in small characters. The black surface has developed a fine smooth patina from years of handling. Ink cakes or sticks such as this fine example were collected by early scholar. this ink cake is in excellent condition. Size: height: 10.1cm; cross section: 1.8cmx1.1cm
