Fine Imperial Yellow Cup, Jiaqing Mark & Period



This is a very fine Imperial yellow cup with finely incised dragon and phoenix chasing a flaming pearl. The cup is of tall bell shape. The exterior is covered with a fine yolk yellow glaze with minute crackles. The Interior and the base is glazed with a tinted white glaze of Imperial quality. The base is inscribed with a Jiaqing Imperial seal mark in dark cobalt blue. The unglazed foot rim shows the silky smooth porcelain body. Pure yellow Imperial wares were reserved for exclusive use by the emperor and are the rarest among all monochrome porcelains. The delicate cup is in excellent condition.
